AARP
The AARP is a U.S. based nonprofit, nonpartisan membership organization that helps persons aged 50 or above to improve the quality of their lives. The AARP was formerly known as the American Association of Retired Persons. It was founded in 1958. The AARP has offices in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The AARP provides many unique benefits, special products, and services to its members. Any person aged 50 or above is eligible for membership. Some of the services that the organization provides are: 1. Informing members and the public on issues important to this age group 2. Advocating on legislative, consumer and legal issues 3. Promoting community service The AARP sells insurance, investment funds and other financial products.
