The Akron Intellectual Property Journal is a scholarly legal publication of The University of Akron School of Law that produces an annual volume of two issues for use by scholars, practitioners, and judges. The Akron Intellectual Property Journal accepts articles on the topics of intellectual property, cyberlaw (including privacy matters), antitrust, and technology transfer.

The 2010-2011 school year marks Volume Five for the Akron Intellectual Property Journal. The Akron Intellectual Property Journal is part of a larger effort to offer a variety of opportunities for study, research and publication in the area of intellectual property through The University of Akron School of Law’s Center for Intellectual Property Law and Technology. The Center for Intellectual Property Law and Technology at The University of Akron has three full-time members of the faculty who concentrate their efforts in the area of intellectual property and several more who teach related courses. A study of curricular offerings ranked our Intellectual Property Program fifth (tie) in the nation. In addition, a survey of full-time faculty members who teach in the area of intellectual property ranked our program 24th in the nation. The Center for Intellectual Property holds an Annual IP Forum in the Fall, bringing together great legal minds from around the country to discuss and present papers on critical Intellectual Property Issues. In the Spring of 2010, The University of Akron School of Law will host its twelfth annual Richard C. Sughrue Symposium on Intellectual Property Law and Policy.

Since the 1930s, The University of Akron School of Law has dedicated its resources to teaching its students in intellectual property. Such offerings include the Albert and Vern Oldham Lecture and study abroad opportunities in Geneva, Switzerland where students learn about matters related to WIPO and the WTO. The Akron Intellectual Property Journal represents a further step in enhancing the diversity of experience the school’s students will have as they continue to excel in intellectual property education.

Members of the Akron Intellectual Property Journal contribute to the publication by editing the articles selected for publication and by writing their own notes and comments. By editing selected articles, staff members improve their own editing, writing, and citation skills while being exposed to different areas of law. The editor-in-chief and the executive editor oversee the selection, editing, and publication process.

The Akron Intellectual Property Journal welcomes submissions from all. The Akron Intellectual Property Journal accepts articles on the topics of intellectual property, cyberlaw (including privacy matters), antitrust, and technology transfer. Submissions should contain all sources in footnotes to the article, and all content should be in the primary article, rather than in any addenda. Articles are published in conformance with Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation, published by the Harvard Law Review Association.
